What to Expect at The Recovery Village Atlanta

Deciding to enter addiction treatment can be life-changing. Learn what to expect so you can enter treatment with confidence and get your life back.

Checking In to Inpatient Rehab

At The Recovery Village Atlanta, your admission time is scheduled in advance to ensure each person arriving at our facility gets our care team’s full attention. Not arriving on time may lead to a wait time.

To ensure the safety and sobriety of all patients, each resident must consent to having their person and belongings searched upon arrival. During this search, staff members will gather any items not permitted during treatment and store them in a secure and safe place until your stay is over. Additional random searches may be conducted throughout your stay at The Recovery Village Atlanta.

Length of Stay

Your length of stay may vary depending on your personalized treatment plan, recovery progress and insurance coverage. Generally, clients may receive 30–45 days of residential care, including 7–10 days of medical detox.

  • Medical detox for 6–9 days
  • Inpatient substance abuse care, including medical detox for 7–14 days
  • Inpatient mental health care is 21 days
  • Total stay including PHP and IOP care is 40–45 days

Will I be forced to stay in treatment?

We encourage all patients to complete their treatment. Leaving medical care early can lead to relapse and overdose. However, patients may choose to leave treatment at any time, even against medical advice, as long as they are not a danger to themself or others.

Federal laws and workplace policies are in place to protect people who want to recover from addiction. Understanding your rights as an employee and having a plan can help you keep your job during treatment. If you’re considering using FMLA benefits to protect your job while you’re in rehab, it’s really important to start the process as soon as possible, even before you arrive for treatment. You’ll need to contact your employer to start the paperwork required for FMLA. To protect your privacy, you only need to say you’re seeking medical treatment.

Our Recovery Advocates will help ensure you arrive at our center safely and on time. Patients may book and confirm travel on their own or we can help coordinate travel arrangements with you. We can also arrange pick-up to and from the airport, bus stations or train stations.

Rooms at The Recovery Village Atlanta offer a comfortable place to relax and recharge. Rooms are shared with one other patient, as sharing with your peers fosters critical fellowship during a difficult time. The number of residents in each room may vary depending on your individual treatment stage and care needs.

Our facility has a full cafeteria with meals prepared by our chef onsite. A few different meals will typically be available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each delicious and nutritious meal bolsters patients’ physical and mental health during their recovery. Snacks are also provided. Outside snacks or meals are not permitted in the facility. If you have any food allergies, let us know prior to your arrival so we may accommodate you.

Patients are responsible for doing their own laundry and keeping their rooms clean to nurture accountability and independence. Certain housekeeping services are provided, like removing trash and providing fresh towels.

For the safety and privacy of all patients, cell phones are securely stored upon arrival. This helps you focus on healing by removing distractions and ensures confidentiality. Following admission, patients have a 48-hour phone-free period, then get access to facility phones at designated times per level of care. Clients may use their cell phones again at the PHP level of care, other than during group therapy sessions.

Residents at The Recovery Village Atlanta may take periodic smoke breaks during designated times. The frequency and timing of these breaks is based on your treatment plan. If you smoke, you will need to bring enough unopened cigarettes or vape products for the length of your stay. Vapes and e-cigarettes must be disposable and labeled as pure nicotine without any additives. All smoke, vape and tobacco products must be new and unopened upon arrival at the facility. Chewing tobacco, loose tobacco, black and mild’s, pipes and pipe tobacco, cigars, and nicotine gum are not permitted. Smoking cessation products may be offered during your treatment.

It’s important to begin rebuilding relationships with loved ones while in treatment. Some patients may benefit from long-distance or virtual family therapy, while others may need in-person visits. Family therapy visits are offered as clinically appropriate. For residential and partial pospitalization visitations are on Sundays at 3:45-5pm. Visitors are approved by the therapists, typically after a family session occurs.

Ask Our Recovery Advocates

Our Recovery Advocates can answer your questions about our addiction treatment programs and life at The Recovery Village Atlanta.

Let your intake coordinator know you want to speak to a Recovery Advocate when you call.

Nearly all health insurance plans require you to pay some out-of-pocket costs in order to access your healthcare benefits (collectively, the “Patient Responsibility”). Your individual Patient Responsibility will vary.

A staff member will review your Patient Responsibility with you when you’re admitted or as soon as you are medically stable. They will explain the deductible is due during admission and that the co-insurance amount and out-of-pocket balance will be billed and paid for once services are complete. Onsite financial counselors will review your financial responsibility again during treatment with case managers, who can also help you navigate FMLA.

It is your responsibility to check with your insurance provider prior to admitting at The Recovery Village Atlanta to understand your individual benefits plan. Please note that your insurance plan may not be a “participating provider” with The Recovery Village Atlanta. You are responsible for all non-covered and out-of-pocket costs related to your treatment stay.
